Fimbul.jl — our Julia-based toolbox for geothermal energy simulation — is coming together nicely. While the official release is still on the horizon, a pre-release version with comprehensive documentation is already available!
🔧 Built on top of JutulDarcy, our fully differentiable, high-performance porous media flow simulator, Fimbul.jl is written entirely in Julia and offers functionality for setting up, simulating, and analyzing a variety of geothermal energy scenarios, including:
🔥 Geothermal energy production from a well doublet
🔄 Seasonal Borehole Thermal Energy Storage (BTES) with 48 wells across six parallel sectors
💾 Digital twinning of a high-temperature Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage system (HT-ATES)
📉 A classic 1D heat equation example with convergence analysis — a nod to the undergraduate days
